Converting Your Scooter to Electric: Where to Start

An electric conversion comes down to four systems working together: the motor, the battery, the controller and the throttle. Get the voltage right across all four and the rest is assembly.

Pick your voltage first

Everything else follows from system voltage. A 36V system (10S) is common for light scooters; 48V (13S) gives more speed and efficiency. Your motor, controller and charger must all match this number.

Size the battery

Range depends on watt-hours. Multiply pack voltage by amp-hours: a 48V 15Ah pack stores 720Wh, roughly 30-40km of real-world range depending on rider weight and terrain.
