Most lithium incidents trace back to a handful of avoidable mistakes. Internalise these rules before you weld your first cell.
- Never solder directly to cells — spot weld instead
- Always fit a correctly-rated BMS
- Match cell brand, capacity and age within a pack
- Insulate positive terminals with rings and barley paper
- Use a charger rated for your exact pack voltage and chemistry
- Fuse the main discharge lead
- Charge on a non-flammable surface and never unattended overnight
If a cell gets hot or swells
Stop immediately, disconnect if safe to do so, and move the pack to a fireproof location outdoors. A swelling cell is venting — it will not recover and must be retired.
A few rupees of insulation and a fuse are the cheapest insurance you will ever buy.
